Do you have a desire to give back to your local community?
Would you like to share your knowledge with high school students interested in community based research?
If you answered YES, to these questions, we invite you to join SF BUILDs mentorship project with June Jordan School for Equity. As a mentor, you will be paired with a high school senior who is developing a Youth Participatory Action Research project with potential to impact their local community and beyond. During this guided mentoring opportunity, you will receive access to mentors of your own along with mentor trainings to prepare you for this role. We are looking for committed students who are available Tuesdays from 11-1 PM starting in the first week of February and continuing through the end of April. We anticipate having 5-6 workshop sessions with students at June Jordan during this time.
Not only is this a great volunteering opportunity for your professional development, but you are also eligible to receive independent study credit (BIOL 699) for being a mentor! Participation includes attending all meeting sessions and participate in reflective journaling as part of their experience.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please complete our survey by 5 pm on Monday January 20, 2020 using the following: June Jordan Mentor 2020
