How does the SF BUILD Scholar Program benefit me as a student?

    • Peer mentoring opportunities

    • Research opportunities     

    • Tuition coverage — up to 60% per semester

    • A monthly stipend for research activities — $1,114/month

    • Travel/supplies budget — $1,700/year

Eligibility

  • You meet the NIH Guidelines:

  • You are an undergraduate student at San Francisco State University
  • You are interested in research in the biomedical sciences (example: biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and/or social sciences)
  • You are willing to commit to participating in the program from June - August
  • You are willing to commit to participating in the program for one or two academic years after the summer session (for example, Fall 2020 - Spring 2021 and/or Fall 2020 - Spring 2022, including Summer 2020)

Applicants do not need prior research experience!

*Biomedical includes biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences (collectively termed "biomedical")

    All applicants are required to submit the following:

    1. Application
    2. Unofficial transcript
    3. 1 Letter of recommendation (required), 2 Letters of recommendation (preferred)
    4. If accepted, proof of health insurance
