For students seeking mentorship, resources, and community support to pursue biomedical/health career goals, with stipends for commitment.
Goals of Program
- Connect students to a wider network of professionals and students working within biomedical/health fields
- Provide mentorship for mentees to pursue their professional goals in biomedical/health career paths.
- Create systems and programs to make resources accessible and visible
- Build community among students pursuing biomedical/health careers
- How will the AoC Peer Mentoring program benefit me in my career?
- Supply financial support for academic and professional development activities
- Provide networking, peer mentoring, and community building
- Stipend award (contingent upon approval of funding)
- $750 Fall
- $750 Spring
Program Requirements and Expectations
Fall '25/Spring '26
- Commit to participate in program for entire Fall 25 and Spring 26 semesters
- Attend all mentorship meetings (dates TBD)
- Attend 8 workshops (dates TBD)
- Complete one assignment towards a biomedical/health career path (this will be selected by you and your mentor, examples include preparing an application for summer research exeperience or grad school, signing up for clinical experience, ect)
- Support mentor in promoting workshops/events
Eligibility
In accordance with Federal and State Law our program does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, health or disability.
- Currently enrolled Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior undergraduate or master’s student at SFSU in a biomedical major, or recently graduated from SFSU within 1 year
- Actively pursuing biomedical/health career path
- Commit to program for the Spring semesters (Feb 2025-May 2025)
- Biomedical or health career major (ie. biology, chemistry, engineering, social science, nursing, dentistry ect.)
