Renewals
- There is now one form for both new and renewal applications. Please use the same link above to apply to both application types.
- Renewals can be up to 2 times for a total of a 3-term appointment.
- Fellows are eligible to apply for a renewal if they have completed all program requirements from your previous appointment.
- Note: Use the application (link) above to apply for a fellowship renewal. You will be prompted to select if your application is new or a renewal. Selecting the renewal application will open up prompts specific for renewals.
Program Overview
The AoC Fellows Program offers a 4-month funding opportunity for students engaged in biomedical research projects impacting community health. Fellows can renew for up to three terms, subject to completing all requirements.
Program Goals
- Provide funding for students in community health-focused biomedical research
- Offer professional development in biomedical sciences with a social justice focus
- Connect students to a network of professionals and peers in social justice and biomedical science

- Stipend: $7K for Grad/Post Bac Fellows, $5K for Undergraduate Fellows
Requirements
- Attend in-person orientation
- Create and submit Individualized Development Plan (IDP)
- Participate in one AoC workshop per semester
- Complete 4 reflections through iLearn
- Submit final report or project
Eligibility
In accordance with Federal and State Law our program does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, health or disability.
- Current SFSU undergraduate or master's student in a biomedical major, or recent graduate (within 1 year)
- Intent to pursue graduate or professional school within 1-2 years
- Interest in community health-focused biomedical research
- Commitment to social justice through science
- Current involvement in community-engaged biomedical research *For those not currently apart of a community engaged research project with a mentor/advisor, please check out our partnered Faculty List*
- Maximum of 3 terms for renewals
