Overview

Dr. Guo Huang earned his B.S. from Peking University, his Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, and completed postdoctoral training at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor in Residence at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), with appointments in the Department of Physiology and the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI). His work has been recognized with several honors, including the American Heart Association Established Investigator Award and the Department of Defense Discovery Award.

At the Huang Lab, his research integrates cardiac regeneration biology with cancer modeling and functional genomics, focusing on pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The lab investigates how co-occurring transcriptional and signaling mutations drive leukemia and create therapeutic vulnerabilities, using synthetic lethality, small molecule inhibitors, and genomic approaches. In collaboration with the Children’s Oncology Group and the NCI TARGET initiative, the lab also advances biomarker discovery, residual disease detection, and novel immunotherapy targets to support biologically driven, genetically stratified treatment strategies.
