The prevalence of food insecurity is high among students at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Data from my earlier study show 74% of students (n=394) exhibit varying levels of food insecurity at SFSU. In order to effectively address food insecurity among students and understand the role of food literacy to improve food security, it is imperative to gather student feedback through mixed methodologies to guide future efforts, particularly in the time of Covid 19 pandemic. The study has three major components: 1) Needs assessment survey to measure food security status among students and gather student feedback for future efforts and interventions 2) Focus groups for in-depth qualitative analysis of complex dimensions of food insecurity and food literacy among students 3) Development and implementation of content under the

"Savor and Succeed" social media campaign to educate on food insecurity and promote available resources. The study will also investigate student perspectives on future food security efforts and nutrition education interventions that may be implemented at the university. The results of this study will be incorporated in student-centered recommendations and evidence-based guidance for campus wide basic needs initiatives to improve food security status of students through food literacy and increased awareness.
